Jakob Schlaepfer Interior
Founded in 1904 in St. Gallen, the historic cradle of the Swiss textile industry, Jakob Schlaepfer is recognised for its excellence and savoir-faire. The firm has collaborated for decades with leading haute couture houses and is marking a new chapter with the opening of its first Parisian showroom and the launch of an interior collection during the 2026 edition of Paris Déco Off.
Set within a space formerly home to Karl Lagerfeld’s bookshop back office, the venue reflects the brand’s enduring dialogue with the fashion world. Under the creative direction of Fridtjof Linde, Jakob Schlaepfer extends its expertise into interiors, reinforcing its position as a heritage textile brand anchored in Swiss production and craftsmanship.
Interior Collection 2026
The new interior collection draws inspiration from the Säntis and the Alpine landscape surrounding the workshops. Comprising more than forty new designs, the collection features natural contrasts expressed through the light grey of limestone, the muted tones of marl, the silvery sheen of lichens, the velvety green of mosses, and the brilliant white of snow. A mineral universe, intentionally restrained at times, unfolds through subtle shades, refined material expression and layered techniques.
A true laboratory of textile innovation, Jakob Schlaepfer’s creations combine traditional methods and meticulous hand craftsmanship with laser cutting, digital printing, experimental surface treatments and bespoke machinery. Each fabric becomes an expression of precision and innovation defined by unconventional materials and richly tactile textures that engage both the eye and the senses.
This collection reasserts the firm’s pioneering spirit with flat-bed knitted upholstery fabrics combined with historic St. Gallen embroidery, entirely produced in its Swiss in-house facilities.
Completing the collection, Jakob Schlaepfer unveils a world-first introduction: knitted carpets enriched with hand embroidery. A dialogue between industrial precision and artisanal craftsmanship, giving rise to unexpected textures and a new language of interior surfaces.
